Course Equivalency
ECU uses CollegeSource’s Transfer Evaluation System (TES) for displaying current course articulations. If you do not see your school or course in TES, please feel free to email crediteval@ecu.edu for assistance.
For Military Equivalencies, please visit the UNC Military Equivalency System.
Overview
- ECU accepts transferable credit with a grade of “C-“ or higher.
- Because ECU has only articulated credit for schools current ECU students previously attended, TES does not display all possible transferable credit.
- We are constantly updating our equivalencies, but if you don’t see your course, you may submit a course for review using the Course Review for Potential Students Form.
- Once ECU receives an official transcript, we evaluate it. Most students have their evaluation completed within 48-72 hours, though it can take up to two weeks, depending on the number of transfer courses and where they were taken previously.
Important Notes
- All Military/JST/ACE lower-level courses will be reviewed for transfer credit upon submission of official documentation.
- Please use the UNC Military Equivalency System to search for equivalencies.
- Industrial Technology and Nursing intended majors should consult cetadvising@ecu.edu (College of Engineering and Technology) or conadvising@ecu.edu (College of Nursing) for transfer credit information. Credits may transfer as 1XXX electives but be able to apply differently to your major.
- Credit for AP, IB, CLEP, and DANTES is awarded based on receipt of official test scores. These equivalencies are available in TES, but you may also view them through ECU Placement Credit Information.
Notes for North Carolina Community College Transfer Students
- Some courses listed in TES may only be awarded credit for students within that major.
- For example, NUR courses will only transfer for BSN students; they cannot be used for electives for non-nursing students.
- For more specific information, make sure you are following the UNC System Transfer Guides.
- Some bi-lateral and uniform agreements between the NCCCS and ECU require proof of a completed AAS degree for credit to be awarded
